3) How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide and secure the Services (authentication, account management, role-based access).
  • Enable core features: offline capture, QR-based shift handoff, uploads to cloud storage, and visualization of mill-reline progress.
  • Maintain & improve performance, reliability, and user experience (including crash/diagnostic data).
  • Communicate with you about updates, security notices, and support.
  • Comply with law and enforce our terms, protect against misuse, fraud, and security threats.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use your data for targeted advertising.

4) Data storage, sync, and transfers

  • On-device (offline-first): Many features work offline. Data you capture is stored on your device until you sync or hand off via QR.
  • Sync & Cloud Storage: When connected, data can sync to our cloud (e.g., AWS) and to your enterprise tenant if applicable.
  • International transfers: We may process and store data in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).

5) Sharing & disclosure

We share information only as needed to operate the Services or as required by law:

  • Service Providers / Sub-processors: e.g., hosting, storage, security, email delivery, diagnostics. Typical examples include cloud infrastructure (such as AWS) and crash/diagnostic platforms. These providers are bound by contractual and confidentiality obligations and may only use data per our instructions.
  • Enterprise Customer Admins: If you use a Kaltech organization account, your organization’s admins and authorized users may access data you contribute in accordance with that organization’s policies.
  • Legal & Safety: To comply with a lawful request, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to continued protection of personal data.

We do not “sell” or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under U.S. state privacy laws.

6) Data retention

  • Account & Work Content: Retained for as long as your account or enterprise contract is active or as needed to provide the Services. We delete or anonymize upon verified request (see §8) unless we must keep it for legal, security, or auditing reasons.
  • Diagnostics & Logs: Typically retained for a limited period (e.g., ~30–90 days) for troubleshooting and security, then deleted or aggregated.
  • Backups: Persist for a limited cycle and are then purged on a rolling basis.

Retention periods may vary for enterprise tenants according to their contract.

7) Security

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest for cloud-stored data,
  • Access controls, least-privilege practices, and audit logging,
