iBUNG – Internal Bung
The spare or extra liner bolt holes in the mill shell are typically sealed with a plumber’s type rubber compression plug or bung. These rubber bungs are not engineered for this application and the rubber hardens and loses its elasticity over time, especially in a cold climate, so they often come loose and leak or pop out, requiring that the mill be shutdown to replace them.
The patented steel iBUNG is an engineered new style of the bung that eliminates ALL the typical problems associated with traditional rubber bungs, and provides significant advantages.
They are held in place by the liners and cannot leak or come loose unless the liners are missing or are worn through.
It is designed to leak when the liners wear down to a point where the mill shell is exposed.
The conventional rubber bung may conceal or “hide” the fact that the liner has been worn through, without any exterior signs, and may result in wear damage to the mill shell.
The bung is easily and quickly installed from the inside of the mill.
Bolt removal equipment knocks in the steel iBUNG and liners at the same time.
